Integrating PCARDIO into Your System
The PCARDIO platform is designed to be integrated – into research setups, clinical systems, interactive applications and commercial products. This guide explains how to architect, configure and integrate PCARDIO recorder, sensors and platform components into your solution, from first prototype to production deployment.
It covers system architectures, communication options, synchronization strategies, data flows and typical integration patterns, so you can make the right technical choices early.
1. Integration Philosophy
PCARDIO is built on three core integration principles:
- Open by design – raw access, documented APIs, no black boxes
- Scalable architecture – from single recorder to multi-sensor systems
- Real-world readiness – robust timing, wireless reliability, wearable form factors
2. Typical Integration Scenarios
a) PC / Laptop Based Integration
Architecture: PCARDIO recorder → BLE dongle → Windows/ MAC application or custom software.
Typical use cases: clinical research, validation studies, algorithm development.
b) Mobile / Tablet Based Integration
Architecture: PCARDIO recorders → native BLE → mobile app (iOS / Android).
Typical use cases: rehabilitation applications, demos and pilots, field measurements.
c) Embedded / OEM Integration
Architecture: Bare PCB or custom enclosure → custom firmware → your product.
Typical use cases: medical devices, wearable products, commercial cardiac monitoring solutions.
3. Communication Options
Direct BLE (Native BLE Stack)
Recorders connect directly to mobile devices, tablets and PCs with BLE support. Simple setup, no extra hardware required.
PCARDIO BLE Dongle
The PCARDIO BLE dongle is engineered for high throughput, low latency and stable performance. Use the dongle when timing matters, or you need predictable performance.
4. Time Synchronization
Accurate cardiac analysis depends on accurate timing. PCARDIO provides synchronization modes between all sensors for research-grade precision and real-time interaction use cases.
5. Data Flow & Output Strategy
PCARDIO allows you to choose what data you receive, how often you receive it, in which format, and how you process it. Typical patterns include research workflows with raw + fused data and offline processing.
6. SDK & API Integration
PCARDIO provides APIs for C# / .NET, Python (research) and mobile platforms. Through the API you can configure sensors, control streaming & logging, manage multi-sensor setups, and access metadata & quality indicators.
7. From Prototype to Product
The same integration principles apply whether you build a research setup, a demo application, or a commercial product. PCARDIO supports custom device development, algorithm development, firmware customization, and production readiness.
Getting Started
A typical integration path: Start with PCARDIO recorder + Windows app + wireless dongle + download docking station → Validate sensor placement & data quality → Integrate via API → Tune performance → Scale to multi-sensor or OEM setup.
