Multi-Sensor Wearables for Sports Science and Athlete Monitoring
PCARDIO provides multi-sensor wearable monitoring systems for sports science, human performance research and elite athlete monitoring. The platform enables detailed physiological analysis during training and competition by combining ECG, respiration, motion sensing and other physiological signals in a single synchronized system.
Designed for demanding environments, PCARDIO wearables provide reliable physiological data during high-intensity activities where traditional monitoring solutions often fail.

Comprehensive Athlete Monitoring
Understanding how the body responds to training load is essential for optimizing performance and preventing injury. PCARDIO enables continuous monitoring of key physiological signals including:
- ECG (1- or 2-channel)
- Heart Rate and Heart Rate Variability (HR / HRV)
- Respiration rate and breathing patterns
- Motion and activity monitoring
- Optional additional sensors
This combination provides a more complete picture of an athlete’s physiological state during training, recovery and competition.
Sports ECG Monitoring
Cardiovascular monitoring is a key component of modern sports science. PCARDIO wearable ECG systems allow researchers, sports scientists and performance teams to monitor cardiac activity during both controlled testing and real-world training.
The platform records high-resolution raw ECG signals, enabling accurate detection of heart rate, heart rate variability and other cardiac parameters even during dynamic movement.
This makes the system suitable for:
- endurance training monitoring
- exercise physiology studies
- cardiac screening in athletes
- performance and recovery analysis
Sensor Straps Optimized for Sports
PCARDIO offers wearable sensor straps specifically designed for sports environments.
These straps include:
- Integrated ECG electrodes
- Strain-based respiration sensors for accurate breathing rate detection
- Robust attachment for high-intensity activities
- Comfortable long-term wear
This configuration enables reliable monitoring of cardiovascular and respiratory responses during intense training sessions.
Motion Tracking and Biomechanics Analysis
In addition to physiological monitoring, PCARDIO systems can integrate time-synchronized 9DOF IMU motion sensors.
This allows detailed analysis of:
- body movement and biomechanics
- training load and activity patterns
- coordination and movement efficiency
- injury prevention research
Combining cardiac, respiratory and motion data provides deeper insight into how athletes respond to training and competition.
Example – EGG Sports tracker
P-CARDIO recorders are used to monitor 1 or 2 Channel ECG, which can also be used to derive Heart Rate and Heart Rate Variability in combination with respiration and activity (based on purely an accelerometer data) or complete 9DOF IMU motion data. Other sensors can also be connected to this system.
Raw & Filtered ECG and Heart Rate detection
The graph below shows the raw and filtered ECG signals from which the heart rate (HR) is derived as the subject transitions from walking to running. While obtaining a clear ECG during running is more challenging, both HR and heart rate variability (HRV) can still be accurately measured.

Time-Synchronized wireless satellites – 9DOF IMU Motion Tracking
In addition to cardiac monitoring, P-CARDIO offers the possibility to integrate time-synchronized 9DOF IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) motion tracking to monitor the movement of arms, legs, or the whole body. This advanced feature allows for detailed analysis of an athlete’s biomechanics, helping to refine techniques and prevent injuries. By capturing precise motion data, coaches and trainers can gain insights into the efficiency and effectiveness of movements, making adjustments that enhance performance and reduce the risk of injury. The combination of cardiac and motion tracking data provides a comprehensive overview of an athlete’s physical condition, supporting more holistic training and recovery strategies.
